Bee Pollen

Bee Pollen, a honey bee colony's protein source, is rich in trace minerals, amino acids, and often used by humans to combat seasonal allergies. Sprinkle it on granola or put in your smoothy.

This bee pollen is collected by New England beekeepers on a sunny afternoon after the bees return from their foraging adventures. A gate allows the bees to squeeze through with one basket for the bees, one for the beekeeper. This pollen is gently dried, preserving its goodness as a protein supplement. The bees, however, continue to make their share of the bounty into "bee bread" providing a special food for the young bees in the colony's nursery.
